DigiChecks partners participate in the standardization committee meeting last 7th of September
Last 7th of March, the Spanish Standardization Association (UNE – Asociación Española de Normalización) established a new committee on the Digitalization of Information for Building and Civil Engineering (SC2). This committee will focus on managing digital models, including BIM and digital twins, throughout the lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure.
The SC2 is constituted under the purview of the Technical Committee for Standardisation (Comité Técnico de Normalización CTN) 332. This is a standardization group at the Spanish national level, but with implications with other ISO and CEN groups, and with a critical importance on building permits.
The constitution of SC2 brought together a diverse group of experts representing various facets of the construction and standardization sectors. Attendees included Pablo Vicente from the Building Digital Twin Association (BDTA), one of the DigiChecks partners, and two experts, Sergio Esteban and José Carlos Rico, from FCC Construcción, the project coordinator partner of the DigiChecks project, bringing with them a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field.
One of the objectives outlined for this standardization committee is to draft a declaration highlighting the crucial need for BIM-GIS integration. This decision was reached during the committee’s last meeting held on the 7th of September. The integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is considered paramount in modernizing and streamlining the construction and permitting processes.
SC2 boasts a diverse and comprehensive representation of experts hailing from public, private, and academic backgrounds. This multifaceted representation underscores the high expectations placed on this committee to drive innovation and efficiency in the building permit landscape.
